The Rolling Bluegrass Chapter of Kentuckians For The Commownealth is committed to holding elected officials accountable and making our democracy stronger while working to make our community better a better place for all of us. Come join us and get involved. We are currently working locally on making curbside recycling available in Georgetown, on pushing for a fairness ordinance in Scott and Harrison Counties, protecting water, and affirmatively furthering fair housing.

Scott County Residents Stop Landfill!

Scott County residents filled the Fiscal Court chambers!

Since last January Scott County members have been working with others in the community to stop a proposed expansion of the landfill in the north end of the county.

Members host Georgetown Town Hall

On February 24 members in Scott County hosted a town hall for residents to ask the questions of their state legislators they were concerned about.

Victory: Scott County landfill denied zoning expansion

Hundreds of Scott County residents came out to oppose the application by the Central Kentucky Landfill to have 170+ acres near it being rezoned from agricultural use to industrial in order to allow

For the 16th straight year, the Georgetown-Scott County NAACP Unit celebrated Martin Luther King, Jr. Day with a march and program commemorating the legacy and message of the late civil rights leader. In the current environment that we are in, with growing income inequality, elected leaders playing to racial and religious differences, and a struggle to define what it means to be American, it was an important day to stand together.

Get Out Film Screening

The Scott County chapter co-hosted a showing of the film Get Out with allies in Georgetown as a continuation of a racial justice film

Monthly chapter potluck

We meet on the 1st Thursday of the month starting at 6:30 p.m. People are encouraged to bring food to share, if they can. However, there always more than enough to go around!
