Anti-Abortion Constitutional Amendment

House Bill Number:

House Bill 67 proposes a constitutional amendment which maintains that Kentucky's Constitution does not secure or protect a right to abortion or funding of abortion as a health care choice.

Bill Sponsor(s):

This bill seeks a constitutional amendment to state that Kentuckians have no stated right to an abortion. This move would essentially take abortion rights away from the courts and into the hands of the legislature. It is an attempt to add political, anti-abortion language to Kentucky's Constititution, and to turn out anti-abortion voters on Election Day.

House Bill 67 was approved by the House Elections, Const. Amendments & Intergovernmental Affairs Committee on February 20, 11-7 (see how committee members voted). It passed the House on March 10, 71-21 (see how House members voted).
