Health disparities, race and asthma

This study looked at the prevalence of asthma across different racial groups in the US, and how those trends have changed over time. It confirms that African Americans are more likely to have asthma than white people in the US, while Hispanics have lower asthma rates than whites.

Competitiveness of Renewables and Efficiency in US Markets, 2015

This report critiques official US government estimates of the costs and growth potential for renewable energy and energy efficiency. It makes the case that renewable energy and energy efficiency are competitive resources in today's marketplace that can provide cost-effective ways for states to comply with the EPA's Clean Power Plan.

This report summarizes an analysis of the impact on US jobs of the EPA's draft clean power plan, and describes ways organized labor (and allies) can work to shape state implementation plans in ways that advance job growth, protection for displaced workers, environmental justice and climate protection objectives.

Apply to attend 7-day training with Kentucky Student Environmental Coalition!

Are you a young person (under 30) interested in building a diverse, powerful, youth-led environmental movement in Kentucky? Or do you know folks who fit that description? If so, check out this awesome opportunity to attend an 7-day intensive leadership development camp hosted by the Kentucky Student Environmental Coalition.

The training program, called Catalyst, will take place July 26-August 2 at the Life Adventure Center in Versailles, Kentucky. Participants will learn skills to launch and sustain effective campaigns for change on their campuses and in their communities. The program will maintain an emphasis on anti-oppression, inclusion, and relationship-building for the long-haul.

Clean Energy testimony

There will be two committee meetings with testimony about clean energy jobs potential. Kacey Hoover with the North Carolina Sustainable Energy Association will be among those testifying. NC passed legislation in 2007 similar to House Bill 229 that has led to the creation of tens of thousands of jobs. Ms. Hoover has been invited to testify at 9 a.m.
