  1. As a student leader, you are aware that there is an emphasis on diversity issues at UK. What are some issues related to diversity that you believe are apparent on campus, and what do you plan to do to create change?

  2.  Inclusion represents one of the biggest diversity issues at UK.  Without including each other on projects and reaching out to learn from each other, we cannot take steps towards education and overcoming this problem.  As a senator, I’ll strive to step out of the box and to meet new people on a daily basis, to learn from their perspectives and to challenge existing boundaries.

  3. What are your plans to help create an end to sexual violence and promote safety on campus?

  4.  As College of Agriculture Senator one of my main concerns is the safety of my fellow students traversing between main campus and the College of Agriculture.  One of my goals includes working with various officials to make this route safer and less of an encumbrance to students.

  5. In light of the recent budget issues in state government, what action should Student Government take to help maintain affordable higher education?

  6.  The members of Student Government characterize some of the most involved students on this campus. We know how difficult it is to manage funding a college education and actively participating in that education.  Student Government must retain good relationships with leaders in the State Government and continually demonstrate to them the great things that the students, as the future of this state, are going to do.

  7. What action, if any, do you believe is appropriate for Student Government to take to increase voter education and participation both in on-campus elections, and general elections?

  8.  Student Government has a tremendous capacity to work side-by-side with different campus organization to facilitate involvement and promotion of ideas.  Student Government needs to take full advantage of this potential, actively posting flyers and announcements to inform everyone on the election process.

  9. What are your plans with working side by side with landlords and the Lexington Fayette Urban County Government on off campus student housing?

  10.  Off Campus Student housing should be an extension of UK Culture, as well as being a sustainable part of the Lexington Community.  I will work with landlords and officials towards this ideal arrangement.

  11. Leaders often face the struggle of understanding the people they represent. UK has a very diverse student body in terms or race, class, gender identity, culture, ethnicity, religion, nationality, sexual orientation, and ability status. What measures will you take to educate yourself on these issues? In what ways will you commit yourself to better understand and represent this diverse student body?

  12.  Conversation defines one of the greatest assets that we have in understanding issues as individuals and as a diverse group of students at this university.  The best thing I can do as senator lies in the utilization of this asset, and through this process I can commit myself to proactively representing the diverse student body at the University of Kentucky.

  13. What are your thoughts on improving sustainability on campus? Considering current green issues such as recycling, renewable energy, and biking. What plans do you have to make UK a more green-friendly university?

  14.  Sustainability reflects everyday lifestyle choices and a commitment to becoming green.  I plan to work UK organizations to promote legislation that would bring in educators to show student how they can make everyday decisions to live a green life-style and that recycling symbolizes the tip of the iceberg when it comes to changing the way we look at consumable products.

  15. What is your response to the recent research proposal to log sections of UK-owned Robinson Forest? Would you be willing to voice a student opinion different from your own to higher administrative positions at UK?

  16.  As a Student Government Senator it is my responsibility to voice the opinion of the students that I represent.  If the students of the College of Agriculture strongly favor one side of the Robinson Forest issue, I will research that perspective and do anything in my power to make sure that position is correctly portrayed to the senate.

  17. Use this space to address any additional ideas, plans, concerns, or platform ideas you have.

  18.  Having the chance to serve as College of Agriculture Senator is an amazing opportunity.  From early on in my life the College of Agriculture has shaped much of who I am, and I look forward to being able to return the favor as a representative to the larger student body.
