  1. As a student leader, you are aware that there is an emphasis on diversity issues at UK. What are some issues related to diversity that you believe are apparent on campus, and what do you plan to do to create change?

  2. Diversity is obviously an important issue for our campus.  As a campus community we need to create an environment that is comfortable for everyone.  As a school we need to over more scholarships grants to all of the races so that more diverse people will be able to attend the University of Kentucky.

  3. What are your plans to help create an end to sexual violence and promote safety on campus?

  4. Sexual violence has been a prevalent problem on our campus for years.  I think that if we put in more of a community watch program it will make our campus a safer place.

  5. In light of the recent budget issues in state government, what action should Student Government take to help maintain affordable higher education?

  6. The student government should use all the power that it has to keep tuition costs as low as possible.  This is probably the biggest issue facing our university right now.  I think if the university would put its students first instead of trying to become a top 20 research institution then tuition problems could be easily resolved.

  7. What action, if any, do you believe is appropriate for Student Government to take to increase voter education and participation both in on-campus elections, and general elections?

  8. I think as long as the student government is getting a lot of publicity then voters will be more likely to turn out.  As far as general elections go, You can preach to them as much as you want but it’s a personal decision whether you want to vote or not.

  9. What are your plans with working side by side with landlords and the Lexington Fayette Urban County Government on off campus student housing?

  10. It is a terrible idea to propose a plan to have viewer students to live in communities off campus.  As long as the students are paying their rent and paying for their damages I don’t think the landlords should have a problem.  I think if the proposed solution to this problem would pass then homeowners would lose money because they wouldn’t be able to find people that will pay their rent prices except for students.

  11. Leaders often face the struggle of understanding the people they represent. UK has a very diverse student body in terms or race, class, gender identity, culture, ethnicity, religion, nationality, sexual orientation, and ability status. What measures will you take to educate yourself on these issues? In what ways will you commit yourself to better understand and represent this diverse student body?

  12. I am trying to represent the college of agriculture.  Although it is probably the least diverse college on campus there are still there are some diversity on the campus.  If I am elected I will do my best to talk to the diverse students and see what issues they think are important.  If I can gain the knowledge of what diverse students need then I will be able to represent all of the students well.

  13. What are your thoughts on improving sustainability on campus? Considering current green issues such as recycling, renewable energy, and biking. What plans do you have to make UK a more green-friendly university?

  14. I think that sustainability is an important issue for our campus.  I think if there are more recycling bins around campus it would make it easier for students to recycle.  I think that if better bike paths where in place then students would use bicycles more on campus.  Also if the University would plant more trees then it would be a more green-friendly community.

  15. What is your response to the recent research proposal to log sections of UK-owned Robinson Forest? Would you be willing to voice a student opinion different from your own to higher administrative positions at UK?

  16. I think it is a good idea to log sections of Robinson Forest.  If you clean up forests then the forest becomes healthier and continues to grow better then it did before.

  17. Use this space to address any additional ideas, plans, concerns, or platform ideas you have.
