KFTC’s Economic Justice Committee is responsible for developing KFTC's strategy on tax reform and other economic justice issues. The committee, which is made up of a diverse cross-section of members, makes recommendations to KFTC's Steering Committee about campaign goals and priorities. Current members of the Economic Justice Committee are Dave Anderson, Dana Beasley Brown, Steve Boyce, Leslie Craft, Sally Evans, Frankie and Brenda Fields, Denise Groves, Jennifer Jewell-Hudson, Sue Greer-Pitt, Erik Lewis, Russell Oliver, K.A. Owens, Mimi Pickering, Rich Royalty, and Janet Tucker. Each member brings to the committee an understanding of the economic issues of concern to his/her chapter and a desire to work cooperatively for the greater good of the Commonwealth. The committee has developed a set of four principles that shape KFTC's work for tax justice in Kentucky. These include:
The Economic Justice Committee meets at least 3 times a year and via conference call as needed. Meetings are packed with learning, sharing, and laughter. They often include a training on leading a tax workshop, learning about messaging and framing, or hearing from an ally about an important related issue.
The committee also selects several members to participate on the Kentucky Economic Justice Alliance’s strategy team. KEJA is a partnership among KFTC, Kentucky Youth Advocates and Appalshop.
Nominations to the Economic Justice Committee are considered each fall. If you would like to nominate yourself or anyone else for this role, please contact Lisa Abbott at 859-985-7480 or labbott@kih.net. |
