Member Reflections

by KFTC Staff last modified June-26-2006 03:18 PM
In an effort to celebrate KFTC's 25th anniversary, the stories and memories of our members are being documented through member interviews.  Excerpts from these interviews have been appearing in  balancing the scales.  Below are links to full transcripts.

John Rosenberg
John Rosenberg of Prestonsburg has been involved with KFTC since the very beginning.  He
was among those in attendance at the very first meeting of a group in Hazard that would later grow to become the statewide organization we know today.  Rosenberg recounts his memories of those early meetings and share his hopes for KFTC's next 25 years.

Herb E. Smith

Herb E. Smith was also in attendance at the first KFTC meeting.  A resident of Whitesburg, Smith is a filmmaker for Appalshop.  Through the years he has participated both as a member and filmmaker in many of KFTC's campaigns.  In this interview, Smith shares his early memories and discusses the relationship between mining and traditional culture.
