2006 Annual Awards
At each annual membership meeting, KFTC recognizes the remarkable work and commitment to KFTC and social justice shown by some outstanding individuals. Here are this year’s award winners.
The Evelyn Williams Award
Named for Evelyn Williams, a Knott County member who fought all her life against racism and for the rights of women and the poor. Evelyn's perseverance paid off in many victories, including helping win rights for landowners against oil and gas drillers.
Presented to the members who have persevered against great obstacles and over time to win an important victory.

Named for Alice O. Martin, a Floyd County member who preferred a behind-the scenes role but was an almost daily volunteer in the Prestonsburg KFTC office during the 1988 broad form deed campaign and at other times.

Named for Greenup County member Daniel Thompson, who worked within KFTC, his union and his community to overcome divisions and discrimination based on race, religion, income, sexual orientation and other barriers.
