We're celebrating 25 years of social justice work!
From humble beginnings in 1981, KFTC has grown to be a forceful presence throughout Kentucky. In our early days we organized with citizens suffering the consequences of out-of-control mining operations in eastern Kentucky. While still focused on that work, today we also address a broad platform of social justice issues that affect the quality of life for residents across the state and beyond. |

The story of KFTC is the story of the courage, commitment and vision of many of our members throughout the years. We can count many accomplishments — from neighborhood victories to changing the state constitution — in our 25 years. While we remember these struggles and celebrate the victories, it is the people we honor and thank. There might be much more that we yet need to accomplish, but we know that our public officials are more accountable, our environment cleaner and safer, economic justice more within reach, our vision clearer, our democracy stronger and our potential greater because of 25 years of hard work by KFTC members. “I’ve gotten a lot of personal satisfaction from working with KFTC. I have some rich memories, I gained a lot of knowledge I wouldn’t have had. It’s been a new, wonderful experience.” Gladys Maynard
