Stand For Kentucky
We are Kentuckians, and we stand for a Kentucky--a nation--with health care for all, workers’ rights and good jobs, opportunities for every child, clean water and air, and where all people are valued in our laws and in our hearts--regardless of race, religion, or gender. This Kentucky is possible. But right now, it is under attack by the president, our Congress, our governor, and our state legislature.
We are standing with each other from the streets of Washington to Pikeville to Murray--for our healthcare, our frontline communities, for science, for our rights, and for our values. On February 7, let’s take it to the halls of our Capitol. When Kentucky’s General Assembly reconvenes in February, there will likely be more bills proposed and passed that violate our values. KFTC and allies will build power back home. In Frankfort, we will resist.
Join us on February 7--the legislature’s first day back--to stand in power, resistance, and with vision for Kentucky.
Schedule for the day:
9:30 - 11:00 Resistance Workshop, Annex Room 129. We'll train ourselves in ways that we can stand together in resistance at a state and federal level in the current political climate. We will cover methods of resistance that we can organize within our communities, within our KFTC chapters, and as our own daily forms of resistance. We'll learn about the importance of face to face meetings with lawmakers, the impact of making phone calls, participating in direct actions, and more. We'll also talk about steps we can take to educate ourselves and build community with others.
11:30 - 1:30 Convene in the Annex Cafeteria to use KFTC’s Take Action Toolkit. (You could also schedule a sit-down with your legislator during this timeframe. We'll have support for you!)
2:00 - 4:00 Stand For Kentucky Orientation and Action, Annex Room 131
This non-violent action is unlike anything we’ve done, and anything we’ve seen here in Kentucky. Together we're designing a variety of roles and ways to participate that are within, or perhaps just beyond, each individual's comfort zone. We look forward to your thoughts and participation.
