Message from the Kentucky Office for Refugees

Join us in showing support for refugees and immigrants in our state. Please sign this petition to send a clear message to your elected officials that refugees and immigrants will always be welcome in our Old Kentucky Home.

Kentucky has been home to refugees and immigrants for decades, allowing our state to grow and thrive. As Kentuckians, we value all people as vital contributors to the success of our communities, local economies and shared future. We pledge to stand together in support of our refugee and immigrant neighbors who are workers, parents, students, taxpayers, business owners and community leaders. We will continue to welcome them into our beautiful and inclusive state.

We are all Kentuckians. We are stronger when we refuse to let fear divide us. We believe all individuals—regardless of their national origin or faith—deserve to live with dignity, fair and equal treatment, and the means to support their families in safe and vibrant communities. We, the undersigned, urge our elected officials and civic leaders to keep Kentucky a hospitable and welcoming place for all newcomers and to actively protect our neighbors from hate speech and violent acts. Help us keep Kentucky welcoming and sign this petition today.

Our goal is to gather 10,000 community signatures. This petition will be delivered to the Kentucky House and the Kentucky Senate on Refugee and Immigrant Day at the Capitol - February 16, 2017. This petition will also be utilized throughout the year to advocate for refugee and immigrants at the local, state and federal level. (364KB)
