Central Kentucky Chapter Meeting and Empower Kentucky Planning Meeting | Kentuckians For The Commonwealth

Central Kentucky Chapter Meeting and Empower Kentucky Planning Meeting

We'll discuss a new KFTC project called Empower Kentucky. Empower Kentucky is a broad-based effort, involving people from every walk of life, to design and advance meaningful climate actions that make Kentucky communities more livable, strengthen our economy, and support a just transition for workers and communities.

The EPA’s Clean Power Plan, which aims to reduce harmful carbon dioxide emissions from power plants, offers us a critical choice and opportunity: We can seize this moment to design our own solutions and create our own glidepath to a clean energy future. Or we can continue on a course of delay and denial, leaving our communities and workers on the sidelines while investments, jobs, energy savings, and health benefits flow to other states.

In the coming months, KFTC will engage thousands of people in conversations about the best ways to put clean energy solutions to work in Kentucky. All of that input will inform our Empower Kentucky plan, a blueprint for meeting Kentucky’s climate goals while improving our quality of life. Working with many allies and partners, we will organize a diverse and powerful movement and build the political will necessary for our Commonwealth to meet this moment, and thrive.

We especially want to hear from you!
