Question 1: 

What are the major issues facing the City of Danville?

Lack of Corporate growth, Drug abuse with  associated crime and violence.

Question 2: 

How will you facilitate cooperation between the Danville and Boyle County governments?

Already in progress through combined meetings as issues of mutual concern arise and in particular the reformed Parks and Recreation ad hoc committee meeting monthly.

Question 3: 

What is your position on the following growth and development issues as they affect Danville: sprawl, urban service boundaries, historic districts, Planning and Zoning, the Comprehensive Land Use Plan, and relationships with quasi-governmental bodies such as the Economic Development Partnership?

Communication and working together.  All of these listed concerns and groups need to be considered constructively and with respect.

Question 4: 

How will you support code enforcement to clean up junk yards as well as blighted, vacant, and abandoned property and to repair sidewalks in Danville?

We, this City Commission are currently actively addressing this concern and have a workshop scheduled for this Thursday.

Question 5: 

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, in the years of 2010-2014, 17.5% of the residents of Boyle County lived below the poverty line. What policies will you support to improve economic opportunities for all citizens, including access to affordable housing and increasing the minimum wage?

A bleak statistic that can be lessened through job growth and available education that is being addressed.  A chosen life style due to drugs is a problem that we have recognized and are attempting to deal with.

Question 6: 

How will you work to solve the problems of drug abuse and crime in Danville including local regulations to address the issue of gun violence?

We, the City Commission support the agencies and groups that are addressing our drug problem in any way that we can.  Gun violence has not been discussed to this point.

Question 7: 

What measures do you support to foster good relations between law enforcement officers and our local community?

Two years ago our police chief presented to the public a day in the life of a police officer with question and answer.  He has been encouraged to and is planning another.

Question 8: 

Do you have a strategy for a long-term, comprehensive, integrated public parks plan?

Working on it!  Millennium Park looks great, Jackson Park has been revitalized and our Trail system is gaining momentum opening up opportunities for smaller and different parks.

Question 9: 

There are problems with roads flooding due to poorly maintained storm drains in Danville, what are your plans to address this issue?

Good question for Engineering and Public Works.  We'll seek their advice and fund it as necessary, even if in stages.
