Question 1: 

What are the major issues facing the City of Danville?

Economic Development

Growth

Green Space Issues - Including Trails

Recreational opportunities for all ages - including indoor/outdoor swimming

Question 2: 

How will you facilitate cooperation between the Danville and Boyle County governments?

Scheduling quarterly joint meetings

Working toward "partnerships" in public and private - with equal investment

Question 3: 

What is your position on the following growth and development issues as they affect Danville: sprawl, urban service boundaries, historic districts, Planning and Zoning, the Comprehensive Land Use Plan, and relationships with quasi-governmental bodies such as the Economic Development Partnership?

I continue to work toward open communications - community-wide involvement - and identifying what is best for our community. 

I will continue to work toward keeping these issues in the forefront of our community discussions and decisions.

Question 4: 

How will you support code enforcement to clean up junk yards as well as blighted, vacant, and abandoned property and to repair sidewalks in Danville?

Continue to provide our codes officials with commission support - through updating our policies and providing necessary personnel and funding.

Continue funding and grant opportunities to assist with our sidewalk improvement plans.

Question 5: 

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, in the years of 2010-2014, 17.5% of the residents of Boyle County lived below the poverty line. What policies will you support to improve economic opportunities for all citizens, including access to affordable housing and increasing the minimum wage?

I support increasing the minimum wage - having affordable housing throughout our community and the procurement and retention of new businesses/industry.

The current commission approved increased funding for Economic Development Activities.

Will vote to continue city funding for agencies working in our community to assist those below the poverty line.

Question 6: 

How will you work to solve the problems of drug abuse and crime in Danville including local regulations to address the issue of gun violence?

I understand the connections between drug abuse and crime. I understand that drug abuse is an illness. Will work to keep law enforcement fully staffed and assist with providing opportunities for those of us affected to be able to get assistance locally and keep informed with the activities of our local ASAP organization. Would support local efforts to regulate gun accessibility and types.

Question 7: 

What measures do you support to foster good relations between law enforcement officers and our local community?

Town hall meetings

Police Academy

Neighborhood Associations

School Resource Officers

It is important to me that local police and sheriff departments collaborate and keep our public informed of these efforts.

Question 8: 

Do you have a strategy for a long-term, comprehensive, integrated public parks plan?

At the end of this process I stand ready to identify and seek funding to accomplish these goals.

Question 9: 

There are problems with roads flooding due to poorly maintained storm drains in Danville, what are your plans to address this issue?

Our facility management dept works on this issue weekly if not daily.

We will continue to work to resolve and to get ahead of these issues.

Funding from a variety of sources will continue to be identified and pursued.
