Friday, August 1

4-7 p.m. Registration and Check-in at the hotel
7 - 9 p.m. Introduction to Voter Empowerment, the Kentucky PUSHBACK Network, celebration of the work we've done so far, and a brief political landscape of Kentucky. 

Saturday, August 2

8 a.m. Breakfast
9-10 a.m. Overview of our Voter Empowerment Model, and the importance of a multi-issue approach.
10 a.m-noon
Break into small groups and cover the basic nuts and bolts of our strategy

  • Voter ID: What does it mean? How do we do it?
  • Basics of voter registration and effective tabling and canvassing
  • Voter Mobilization and turnout tactics
  • Staying legal: What we can and can’t do as non-partisan 501 (c) 3 organizations
Noon-1 p.m. Lunch
1-2:30 p.m. Focus Workshops (choose one)

  • Integrating grassroots fundraising and membership recruitment into our outreach to voters.
  • Communicating with people/talking to your neighbors.
  • Working to build power in disenfranchised communities - low-income communities, youth, people of color, and immigrant communities.
  • Effective voter empowerment strategies in rural communities - challenges and ideas.
3-5 p.m. Organization break-out and planning

We'll divide into organizational groups (KFTC, JwJ, etc.) and plan how we're going to hit our voter empowerment goals. 
5-5:30 p.m. Evaluate the weekend!
