U of L’s Progressive Action Coalition, the student group that organized the March 26th walkout, warns that increasing tuition will lead to empty classrooms and lowered educational standards.  Many students already work two jobs to cover tuition and living expenses.  For some, the added financial squeeze of a tuition increase may end college careers.

Concerned students have proposed other means of addressing budget shortfalls.  Unfortunately, such appeals to reason have largely fallen on deaf ears.  University administrators are meeting at the Council office on Friday to continue with budget talks.  It's one more last chance to communicate support for affordable higher education before the tuition hikes are finalized.
