Come Make History With KFTC This Valentine’s Day!
I Love Mountains Day Rally
11:30-12:30
Capitol Steps, Frankfort, KY
Join us in the Capitol Steps at 11:30 a.m. for the biggest rally against mountaintop removal ever held in the state capitol. We will have music by Randy Wilson, Public Outcry and the Clack Mountain String Band and a variety of speakers including Wendell Berry and KFTC members who live near mountaintop removal sites. After the rally, if you can, plan on staying with us until 2 p.m. when the legislators go into session.
If you are interested in lobbying with us, we suggest you call your legislator's annex office number and arrange an appointment with him or her. We will have people in room 113 if you would like to pick up a lobbying packet for your appointment.
KFTC asks that participants be responsible for their own lunches during the day. You and your group can either bring lunch, eat in the capitol's cafeteria, or wait until after 2 p.m. and go into town for lunch. Carpools will be available and buses will be coming from several locations, so check with your local KFTC organizer if you need a ride, can offer a ride or would like to join a caravan. Directions are available here. And a map of the capital is available here.
Remember to bring a picture ID with you (if over 18 years old) to get through capitol security. There will be a big crowd and parking may be tight, so plan to get to the capitol at least by 11 a.m.
