The General Assembly convenes for the first time today.  KFTC will have a lobbying presence throughout this legislative session.

We have a lobby day in Frankfort for staff and leaders who want a refresher course or who otherwise can’t wait to get underway with the 2010 General Assembly. The House and Senate go into session at noon.

Let’s meet up at NOON in Room 111 in the Capitol Annex. Please eat before you arrive so we can jump right into things and plan to stay until at least 4 pm.

We’ll be doing at least four things:

  • reminding ourselves about the process, the building, and the various elements of our citizen lobbying machine
  • reviewing the key pieces of legislation we are supporting (Tax reform, Voting Rights, Stream Saver, Energy)
  • talking with as many legislators as we can to a) discuss our agenda and b) distribute the Plundering Appalachia Book and Tax Fairness Report
  • trying to track down Rep. Harry Moberly to set up a time to talk with him at length about energy policy
