People of various faith communities will assemble to pray with residents of mountain communities living in fear from the devastation of mountaintop removal, and for alternative work to bring greater diversity and choice for employment.
This will be a prayerful expression to link employment and community with conservation and creation. Using a modified version of the traditional Christian Way of the Cross, with reflections about our responsibility in faith to build a just society while exercising a vocation as stewards of God’s Earth. This prayer service is open to all people of faith.
LOCATION: Wiley’s Last Resort, near Whitesburg, KY. 4 ½ miles from the Pine Mountain Junction in Whitesburg (Rt. KY 15 & Rt. US 119). Go SOUTH on US 119 from McDonald’s just past mile marker “12.” Turn LEFT at the signs.
