Join KFTC and allies for a Budget Bake Sale at the Capitol Annex on January 20th to raise funds for schools, health care services, clean water, and public safety!

Kentucky couldn't afford to inspect about 20% of the mines that were supposed to be inspected last year.  Class sizes are swelling, tuition's going up, and mental health and family service centers are turning people away, or even closing their doors.

We’re going to Frankfort to do the work that our elected officials aren’t in the mood to do—raise much needed money for the services and programs that we all care about.  We’ll have a brief orientation, collect a tray of baked goods, then we’ll deliver those delicious goods--and important messages--to our elected leaders.  We'll wrap up the day by delivering the money to our state treasury.

We need your help!  Come help us raise some money!  Or if you can’t come, volunteer to bake for the budget, or let us borrow a couple of your aprons.  Let’s show the legislature how to come together to protect our families and communities!

Wear your favorite apron!  Here's the schedule for the day:

9-9:30 a.m. - Orientation: Meet in Room 113 of the Capitol Annex for a brief orientation and to join a lobby group.  You'll collect your thoughts, some info, and a tray of deliciousness. (If you can't make it by 9:30, tell your organizer; we'll work you in to the day when you're able to get here!)

9:30 a.m. to noon - Raising money and awareness:  We'll be circulating around the Annex, meeting with legislators and selling our baked goods.  We'll also have a Bake Sale stand in the basement of the Annex, next to the cafeteria and the tunnels, where some members will be stationed with extra materials and muffins.

12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m. - We'll convene for a press conference (likely in Room 113).  When you leave, you'll need to take your coats and bags.

1 p.m to 2:00 - After the press conference, we'll head over to the Governor's office and deliver the proceeds from our sale.  Then we'll head back to the annex for a debrief.
