Deep in the Appalachian mountains of eastern Kentucky, where coal is king, Beverly May and Terry Ratliff find themselves at the center of a contentious community battle over a proposed mountaintop removal coal mine. By asking us to trace the power lines from our homes to people far removed from our daily lives, "Deep Down" inspires Americans to preserve Appalachia and our shared legacy. The movie will be followed by a panel discussion featuring noted Appalachian author and activist Silas House and Floyd county resident and KFTC member featured in the film Bev May.
