Fairness Moving Forward

Kentuckians continue to come together to fight for a more just future for all of us.

In March we saw Newport, Kentucky become the 20th city in Kentucky to pass a fairness ordinance, and Covington, Kentucky became the first local government in Kentucky to ban conversion therapy! Conversion therapy was defined by the City of Covington as "the use of psychological or spirtual interventions in attempts to force a person to change their sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression."

Local allies from the Fairness Campaign, Northern Kentucky Fairness, and the coalition to Ban Conversion Therapy all helped make these successes possible

However, the work is far from over. Daviess County failed to pass a fairness ordinance for their whole county in early April, with the vote being a 2-2 tie. While the reading and vote is a step forward, it also shows how much farther Kentuckians have to go to support our LGBTQ+ siblings across the state.
