Stein KFTC fundraiser today a success

This evening in Lexington, Senator Kathy Stein and Alan Stein hosted a house party with their friends to benefit Kentuckians For The Commonwealth.

About 30 friends and neighbors came out for soup beans and cornbread and donated a total of $1,250 to support KFTC's work.

Tonight was so wonderful and dear. Kathy and Alan Stein opened their home and hearts for a Kentuckians For the Commonwealth fundraiser. It was especially beautiful to see people from different backgrounds, socioeconomic statuses, and beliefs come together to talk about the issues. My favorite moment of the evening was talking to a woman of privilege who originally hails from Eastern KY. She talked with emotion and candor about the educational and environmental degradation in her birthplace. And, I was able to show her the same direct causations and realities my friends and neighbors experience from Downtown Lexington to Uganda. We shared in a moment of sameness. Two different worlds. Common issues. Common hope. Common determination. It was inspiring. - Tanya Torp

Thanks to Kentucky author Ed McClanahan for providing the night's entertainment and to Central KY KFTC member Enku Ide for making a presentation about our work.

But thanks especially to the Stein family for inviting their friends out and for hosting the event during a hectic and challenging time.
