Our friends at ILoveMountains.org are collecting signatures for a letter to West Virginia Congressman Nick Rahall to show support for his strong stance on mine safety. Lorelei Scarbro, whose husband died of black lung and who has relatives working at Upper Big Branch Mine, will hand-deliver the letter to Congressman Rahall. To read more about this effort and sign on to the letter, click here.

Black Lung in USA

Posted by Paul Hays at November-20-2011 02:29 PM
I live and work in the Atlanta area. Most of our coal comes from KY or WVA. What about the slow suffcating to death of Black Lung. 3 miners die every day in the USA due to Black Lung. The Louisville Courier-Journal did a 5 day expose about thus, Paul (404) 377-9836

Thanks

Yes. Thanks for bringing this up. Black lung seems to be on the rise again. Was the Courier-Journal piece done recently? I remember another from a few years ago. If you tell me the dates, I can try to find it. Thanks again!
