"Ashley Judd talked about the practice of mountain top removal coal mining, a form of strip mining. Ms. Judd, a Kentucky native, has long been outspoken about the need to this mining method. As part of this effort, she has partnered with the Natural Resources Defense Council and other environmental groups to raise national awareness of the problem and to inspire others to join the fight to end mountaintop removal." From C-SPAN's website.

Has Ms. Judd thought of buying some TECO stock and putting in a shareholder's proposal? As a longtime TECO shareholder I think she could use "Fame and Shame" to get their attention. Especially if she attended the next annual meeting in 2011.

That's a great idea. Rainforest Action Network, an ally organization uses that approach a lot. You should suggest that idea to Ms. Judd hrough her Facebook page. Giver props for speaking out on Capitol Hill while you're at it.
