Voter Registration Deadline 1 Week From Today!

All voter registrations for the May Primary Election must be received at the County Clerk’s office or postmarked by one week from today - Monday, April 19th.

If you're not registered, get down to your local County Clerk's office and register or download a mail-in voter registration card and get it post-marked by then.

Only registered Democrats can vote in Democratic Party primaries and only registered Republicans can vote in Republican Party primaries in Kentucky.  There are non-partisan races in some communities which Republicans, Democrats, and registered Independents can all vote in.

If you're updating your address with a voter registration card, it's important to make sure to mark the same political party you're already registered as.  The deadline to change political parties for purposes of voting in their primary elections was December 31st.  If you're a registered Democrat and you turn in a voter registration card tomorrow with the Republican box checked (or vice-versa), you will lose the right to vote in either party's Primary.  To find where you are currently registered and what party you're registered as, visit the Voter Information Center Here

Note that the above assumes you're already registered in Kentucky.  If you're not already registered in this state, you may register as whatever party you want and be able to vote in that election right up until the April 19th deadline.

This week, we have a lot of great events at which we'll be registering people including two more good days of registration on UK's campus, a door-to-door canvassing in the Boston community in Georgetown, as well as three more days of voter registration in Scott County.  We'll also be registering voters at all of our other events this week, so come on out and join us!

Next, we will have a big campaign to encourage people to vote in the May 18th Primary election with an extensive Voter Guide and calls to 23,000 KFTC members and friends.
