We need your help to bring an end to mountaintop removal coal mining. Join us today as part of a national day of action to end mountaintop removal coal mining.

This week, nearly 200 citizens from Appalachia and across the US are gathering in our nation's capital as part of the 5th Annual End Mountaintop Removal Week in Washington – and hundreds more will show support by making a simple phone call.

Mountaintop removal coal mining is one of the most egregious environmental and social justice disasters in America today -- more than 500 mountains and 1.5 million acres of land have already been destroyed by this practice. Residents and supporters from across the US are asking for an end to mountaintop removal and an investment in sustainable economic alternatives for Appalachia.

This issue is urgent and the coal industry is working overtime to block the passage of this bill. That's why we need people like you to take a stand for the mountains.

Please take a moment to visit www.ilovemountains.org/call-your-rep -- we have a special call-in tool there that will allow you to make a phone call to your Representative - if you've never called your Congressperson before - this is the easiest way to do it! We'll walk you through the steps and help you know exactly what to say.

Thanks for taking action - because of people like you, we're as close as we ever have been to ending mountaintop removal.

Thanks for the cool feature!

Made a call to Hal Rogers office asking him to keep the men & women in my district working!

Thanks for the link.

Todd and Leon,

I realizing you're trying to be cute about "thanking" us for the tools to support destroying your own communities with extreme surface mining.

But truly, it is our belief that providing everyone with the basic tools to let their voices be heard in Frankfort is necessary for real democracy to happen. And we believe that people should have the tools to make that voice heard no matter what their opinions are.

That's why most of our Legislative Guide is just basic contact information and background about how the General Assembly work.

So I guess what I'm trying to say is - You're welcome.

On a different note, if you want to keep the men and women in your district working after they mine out all of the accessible coal seams... Well, you might really wish you hadn't ruined the water and permanently wrecked the landscape, knocking down all of the good places to put windmills. Or at least your kids will live to wish you hadn't.

I get that that's hard to think about when times are tough, but hopefully we can work together to find another way.

Not trying to be Cute

Dave,

I had no intentions of trying to be "Cute". The feature provided is fantastic and a great tool for "All Kentuckians".

No need to be a detective and search for hidden messages in my post. You will be wasting alot of time & energy. I have no problem applauding KFTC when they make things easier for everyone to comment on situations.
