HB 70 Stalled in the Senate

House Bill 70, a bill to restore voting rights to former felons who have served their debt to society, has stalled in the Kentucky Senate.  It was assigned to the Senate State and Local Government Committee last week, shortly after being voted out of the House by a substantial 83-14 margin.

The Chair of the committee, Damon Thayer (representing Grant, Kenton, Owen, and Scott counties), says he will not allow the bill to be heard this year.

We need to make sure that Damon Thayer, other Senate leaders (like Dan Kelly and Robert Stivers), and State and Local Government Committee members continue to hear from their constituents about how important this bill is to us.

Please pick up the phone and call-in to the legislative message line and encourage friends too as well.

We'll also continue to lobby in Frankfort Tuesday-Thursday this week and next week.  Contact your local KFTC Organizer for details or just plan on meeting us at 9:30am in the Capitol Annex Cafeteria on any one of these days.
