KFTC members came out to a festival in the Gainsway neighborhood in Lexington yesterday to register voters and raise awareness of our Restoration of Voting Rights for former felons campaign. 

Doug Rigsby, Vickie Schankula, Tayna Fogle, George Moorman, and Danny Cotton were amongst the KFTC volunteers who got out and registered 20 voters and got 50 petition signatures on the restoration of voting rights for former felons issue. 

We'd have gotten more," says Tayna Fogle, "but we talked to so many people who said they'd already signed the petition at the Roots and Heritage Festival or at Super Sunday with us.  In a way, it's great that we have had such great coverage"

Members also helped another five former felons start the process to get their right to vote back.

They were substantially helped by the event's DJ, who regularly came by our registration table and urged the crowd to come over and register to vote and sign the petition

We'd have the factsheet in front of us and feed him lines about the issue to help educate the crowd and encourage them to come over.  He was just great.  it's always nice to have the guy with the loudspeaker on your side." - Danny Cotton
