Vote! - Special Elections on February 5th

by Dave Newton last modified February-01-2008 10:25 AM

There will be three Special Elections for Kentucky legislative seats next week (Tuesday, February 5th).

We're encouraging all KFTC members, friends, and others in these districts to take some time to learn about the candidates and vote in Tuesday’s Election.

30th Senate District (Perry, Harlan, Bell, and Leslie Counties)

Scott Alexander (D) vs. Brandon Smith (R)

95th House District (Floyd County)

Greg Stumbo (D) vs. Larry Brown (R)

6th House District (Lyon, Marshall, and McCracken Counties)

Will Coursey (D) vs. Marvin Wilson (R)

Polls are open from 6am to 6pm.

Sadly, turnout is expected to be low in these races, but that means that your vote can make all the more difference!

If you have questions about where to vote, your voting status, etc. you can visit the Kentucky Voter Information Center online or call your local County Clerk

Also, that this same day is “Super Tuesday” in which many, many states will hold presidential primaries.  This day could well narrow the playing field to just one candidate from each party, so watch the news and call and remind your friends in these states to get out and vote!

Super Tuesday States: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Idaho (Democratic Party only), Illinois, Kansas (Democratic Party only), Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New Mexico (Democratic Party only), New York, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Utah.
