Kentucky Forward Bill filed

by Erik Hungerbuhler last modified January-14-2008 04:29 PM

We've been hearing a lot about Kentucky's budget problems.  The cuts to higher education, the lack of resources for family services, and a "tightening of the belt" that threatens to further compromise our already chronically-underfunded schools, health care services, and public safety systems.  KFTC imagines a better future for Kentucky, a way to move Kentucky Forward.

Rep. Jim Wayne has filed the Kentucky Forward Bill, a bill that would raise about $400 million in revenue a year, while making the tax system fairer for low- and moderate-income families.  It is supported by KFTC and our partners in the Kentucky Economic Justice Alliance, along with a growing number of organizations that have joined KEJA's Kentucky Forward Coalition.

If you're interested in supporting fair and sensible taxes that help move Kentucky forward, come join us in Frankfort!

January 22nd -- House Gaming Task Force Hearing.  We'll testify about Kentucky's need for a tax system that addresses our budget problems, and that is fair and sustainable.  Time TBA.

January 30th -- Tax and Economic Justice Lobby Day

Appropriations and Revenue Hearing TBA
