Harlan County KFTC members raised $1,400  and recruited 27 new members at a KFTC Bar-B-Q grassroots fundraiser on Saturday.  Benny Massey fixed some great food and music was provided by Benny, Ann Schertz and John Craft along with others.  Ann and Benny were joined by Carl Shoupe and Roy Silver on stage to talk about why they joined KFTC and what the KFTC chapter is doing in the community.  Approximately 75 people came out and had a great time.  Many thanks to the Harlan County KFTC Chapter for a great event!

out of state members

I just sent in a new membership form. Even though I am living in Knoxville, TN I feel a need to join the organization that is working to bring some dignity and security back to my home state and my home county (Harlan). Tennessee is experiencing the same problems with valley fill into the streams as Kentucky is experiencing. I support the OSM regulations as they now stand. There should be no changes in the rules that make it easier on the coal companies that rape the land and plunder and pillage the villages and towns lying at the base of the mountains. I have heard all the lies about creating level land for development, creating jobs to benefit the economy of an area, and the promises of "restoring" the land to its original state. They are all just empty promises and the people have no way of insuring that the promises are met. . .the people sure as heck don't have any support from the government since the coal companies have most of the state and federal politicians in their back pocket. And even some of the locals also.

Anyway, keep up the good fight for what is right.
