Emergency Ice Cream Social and Letter Writing Party!

Last Thursday KFTC members in Letcher County came together to to enjoy homemade ice cream and fight subsidies for Filthy Fuels.  The event was held at  the home of members Jeff and Sharman Chapman-Crane where members churned out their own vanilla ice cream and letters to the editor and to House Speaker Richards opposing the giveaway of tax dollars to Peabody Energy.

Also, the invitation to the event was rather clever:

The technology for converting liquids (milk, eggs, vanilla, etc.) into solids (ice cream) is well-established, inexpensive, and beneficial to the entire community. However, the technology for converting solids (coal) into liquid (synthetic fuel) is highly questionable, very expensive and detrimental to the larger community (excluding, of course, coal company executives). To celebrate the conversion of liquids to solids and to contest the conversion of solids to liquid we are going to crank out some old-fashioned homemade ice cream and more than a few  letters to protest the special interest session orchestrated by Ernie Fletcher, David Williams, Jody Richards and Peabody Coal Company. Bring your favorite pen, your favorite ice cream topping and join us for an evening of frozen delights and social activism. What could be better!

You can see more photos from the event here.
